Woke up this morning to the nice people on NPR calmly noting that Hurricane Isabel is supposed to hit the East Coast "somewhere between North Carolina and New Jersey."

*looks down at North Carolina*

*looks up at New Jersey*

Hm.

This could be a problem. I'm from Arizona. We don't do hurricanes. And one of the reasons I moved to the mid-Atlantic was because of its lack of any severe weather habits. I think we've still got a flashlight somewhere from the last blackout, though, so we should be all set.

At least it's supposed to be over by Friday, so that [livejournal.com profile] chelseafrew,[livejournal.com profile] ndannais, [livejournal.com profile] meeby, [livejournal.com profile] deannie, [livejournal.com profile] noelql and I can hit New York as planned to see [livejournal.com profile] rosemitchell and then HUGH JACKMAN ON BROADWAY. Which will happen, hurricane or no hurricane, because these tickets are damned expensive and nonrefundable, and because it's HUGH JACKMAN ON BROADWAY. SINGING AND DANCING. That has to qualify as a force of nature all on its own.

Plus, [livejournal.com profile] noelql has promised me that she's going to take care of Isabel for us, and I have faith in her ability to make even a hurricane back down when there's Hugh Jackman at stake. *g*

I'm from South Florida (bet you didn't know that *g*), and we track huricanes on charts, espeically when they look as well formed as Isabel. But it should all be over by Friday noon. And if it doesn't decide to come up the Potomac, we should be fine -- rain and wind, but hopefully, nothing too bad.

Back home, we track hurricanes by watching the evening news and clucking our tongues and going, "Oh, those poor people. What'd I do with the sunscreen?" *g*

I'm crossing my fingers! The wind and rain will be fun enough.
