'Cause honestly, no clue. But anyway.

Finally, it's as ready for the public eye as it's ever going to be. My first SG-1 effort. Feedback in any form most welcome.

Title: Things He Remembers

Dude, the fan fiction gods have been good to SG this week. I have *several* stories to read...our cups runneth over. I should hoarde them, but I have no willpower, so there's little chance of that happening. *g* (And thank you for posting the link and thus not becoming part of the conspiracy to deprive me of stories. *g*)

Oh, I so know what you mean. I've totally been hoarding them, and using them as a reward for getting work/writing done, but I suspect this weekend I'll be running through all of them with gluttonous glee. *g*

*three cheers!*

Now you will have to show me the background episodes and do some explaining so I can read this. :-)

*laugh* Oh, boy. I'll need several hours and some throat lozenges to cover all that ground. ;-)

You could post it to [livejournal.com profile] stargateslash and/or to the JackDanielites list. You asked!! BTW, I really like the final version. Woo-hoo!!

This rawks, Marnee-Wan. There is no suckage here. You can definitely write more. Name your price. If it's bread and honey, I own a hive and a bakery.

Awww, thank you, sweetie. I'm so glad you liked it. And I write for free, but bread and honey work nicely to keep the juices flowing. *G*

You already know I loved it :) (Perfectly written around the episode without overwriting the episode itself, lovely use of language, a Daniel who may remember enough but not all...just perfect...)

And I'll rec it on every SG list I'm on unless you want to post this there yourself.

*blush* Wow, so much praise, and Major Davis wasn't even in it! I'm honored! *G* I'm so glad you liked it. And I'd greatly appreciate your distribution help, since I'm just not on any of the major fic lists. Ruth just posted a link to SG1HC, but feel free to mention it on any other lists you're on where you think it might be appropriate. Ah, for the days of central lists and archives.... *g*

Oh, and I got the CD today! Thank you so much! I'm wallowing in vids tonight -- and I left the Paul Pimping Disk where it would do the most good. *g*

Oh, that's excellent. Upon seeing Fallen and Homecoming, I remember thinking "God, we're going to drown in missing scene fanfic." And on the one hand, a lot of it was going to suck, but surely with the volume there'd be some stuff I liked...

To my great surprise there hasn't been much, but this is definitely going on the list. I particularly like the way you spiral in toward Jack, going from Jonas (who doesn't know, really) to Teal'c (who knows but isn't the sharing sort) to Sam (who knows and *is* the sharing sort, really, but doesn't) to Jack.

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I was expecting a ton of Fallen/Homecoming fic, too, and I thought I was just missing it wherever it was being posted. But I'm glad you enjoyed mine. Thanks for the feedback.

I wanted to tell you how lovely it is.

I love the voices, the story that unfolds in the midst of what makes me feel almost ... still. There's a stillness at the heart of this that just makes me happy.
For some reason it made me think of a poem I read in Le Guin's Always Coming Home:

This Stone
From the Serpentine heyimas
of Telina-na;
by Wordriver

He went looking for a road
that doesn't lead to death.
He went looking for that road
and found it.
It was a stone road.
He walked that road
that doesn't lead to death.
He walked on it awhile
before he stopped,
having turned to stone.
Now he stands there on that road
that doesn't lead to death
not going anywhere.
He can't dance.
From his eyes stones fall.
The rainbow people pass him
crossing that road, long-legged, light-stepping,
going from the Four Houses
to the dancing in the Five Houses.
They pick up his tears.
This stone is a tear
from his eye, this stone
given me on the mountain
by one who died before my birth,
this stone, this stone.

Thank you! I'm so happy you liked it. And thank you for sharing the poem -- it's absolutely lovely, and very much how I feel Daniel.

Truly lovely. I particularly like how you take a situation that could be drenched in melodrama and write it without going too gooey or too angsty. The depth of emotion is written in what isn't said, and that is so much more effective.

Thank you! It's terribly hard to toe that line between drama and melodrama sometimes, especially with the natural angst a situation like this generates. I'm glad I managed to keep my feet on the right side of the line this time. :-) Thanks for the comments!
