Just got back from seeing Return of the King for the first time.

Coherent thoughts tomorrow when my brain reconstitutes after its complete meltdown in the theater.

The subject line quote is from a guy walking out of the movie while we were waiting in the line to go in. It amused me an awful lot, and hey, who can argue?

The guy sitting behind me in the scene where Sam holds Frodo, "Fuck, this is so fucking gay." I could hear him squirming in his seat. hee!

That said, it really, really was incredibly slashy. I mean, no slash glasses needed, hands-down, screaming out from the screen incredibly homosexual.

Yum.

Oh yeah, I could hear several guys behind us squirming and making nervous little gay jokes to their friends during all of the times Sam holds Frodo (and Frodo embraces Sam, and Frodo kisses Sam, and Merry and Pippin get touchy-feely, and... *g*)

I was going to complain about not getting quite as much Legolas/Gimli pure slash as the hobbits got, but in retrospect, it's probably for the best. All the guys in the audience might have spontaneously combusted from the overload!

hobbitses!

i was with ya there on the meltdown. lets watch kaly cry till she can't breathe. through TWO viewings! trilogy tuesday AND yesterday afternoon.

hell, i started crying about the forehead kiss while we were driving home! :D

rotk = hobbits = looooove!

Yeah, I blubbered until people were asking me if I was all right. And then I blubbered even more on the second viewing.

That forehead kiss was the most gorgeous thing. Even if the guys in the audience were all squirming at the gayness. 'Cause let's face it, if there'd been much more hobbit loooooooove in that movie, it would have gone up a rating. *g*

Dude, you didn't go to a midnight showing? [livejournal.com profile] deannie and I groused the whole time we were waiting that you guys would still see everything first because of the time zone difference! *g*

Hope your meltdown was a good thing. You can read our thoughts in our LJ. Overall, the trilogy is still amazing, but this one was my least favorite. Oh well.

No, we didn't go until the 8:30 show last night. I have bad luck with midnight shows -- every time I go to one, the movie ends up sucking. *g*

I agree with you guys in that the first one is still my favorite. But I thought this was worlds better than TTT, which I dislike more every time I see it, even now. I have some substantial book canon complaints, but overall I was totally blown away by ROTK. I just desperately want the EE now, so I can get back all the good stuff I know they cut. :-)

Of course, it helps that ROTK is my favorite book ever, period. *g*

That could help I suppose! *g*

Oh! The Gayness!

Chiming in terribly late, but...

You are exactly correct, chica. Absolutely no slash-glasses required.

I don't know when I've had such a fulfilling, satisfying experience at the theater. And did I mention how pleased I was with the Slash Factor?

Signing off from Sunny Tucson,

Your sister in slash,
