Jul. 23rd, 2004 08:55 pmSince I'm actually home white SG-1 is airing tonight (a very rare event), I figured I'd just type out my immediate ongoing reactions to tonight's episode. Becaue why bother actually thinking about something on a Friday night?
I was happy right from the teaser Yay! They let Daniel understand another language! He translated something! It's a little sad how excited this makes me. I was sitting there thinking it totally wasn't going to happen -- they were going to make Sam understand Russian, or else have the Russian woman translate. Now, if they'd just let him actually speak some Russian... no. No, I think that might actually kill me.
I love that Jack still dresses in the same uniform as always, even when he's sitting there at Hammond's desk (and it'll always be Hammond's desk) doing General-like paperwork. He's very cute, pretending to humor the Russian. As if he's ever going to replace himself on SG-1, let alone with a Russian. I feel kinda bad for Colonel Vasilov, though. He seems so earnest. And cute. I've always had a thing for Russian guys named Alexei.
I love that they're having more team meetings now that Jack is off SG-1 than they did all of last season. Too cute. Teal'c all proud of his new digs, Sam awkwardly snapping to attention when Jack comes in, Daniel trying to point out that they haven't been very nice to the Russians, like, ever. Also loved Daniel going to talk to Vasilov afterwards, making nice with that big grin, because he just can't not be the diplomat. That grin is pretty new. And so cute that he can't get Jack's rank right.
As a side note, I guess Daniel didn't have a housewarming party for his new house. Or else he only invited one person... hmmmm. *g*
Am I a sick puppy if I got kind of a charge out of Jack shooting Daniel? Loved the freaked out look on Jack's face -- he was so not expecting that from Daniel. That scene was awesome. So, so awesome.
"I thought it was odd that he was shooting up the gateroom." Hee! They are spoiling me with all this Jack screentime!
I'm not sure what I think of the new doctor. There's nothing offensive about her, but she's no Janet. Just... eh.
I love Teal'c, the ultimate guilt-puppy, telling Vasilov not to blame himself. Because Teal'c would so blame himself.
Oh man. Daniel all pissy and freaked out over not remembering what happened. You can't blame him -- he's just barely gotten all his memories back. I'd freak out at any memory loss, too. Oh, the look on his face when he finally realized who shot him -- I don't know whether to laugh or sigh over the angst. I loved the silent interchange between all of them, especially Sam's little head-jerk toward Jack.
THUD. Daniel spoke Russian. Excuse me. I just lost a few minutes there. Whew.
I'm really, really tired of Anubis. But I have to admit, the smokey, dirty, swirly effect is pretty cool as a contrast to the usual glowy octopus of the Ascended. And it's kind of an interesting place to go with him, because of course he couldn't be killed, since he wasn't actually alive to begin with.
Daniel is so cute, making himself at home in Jack's office. And of course, he's never going to let Jack hear the end of it for shooting him, even if Jack did walk right into that one. And Daniel certainly should know about Ancient rule enforcement -- that was a cute wince.
Gee, Anubis got Sam. Didn't see that coming. She's sexy when she's slamming people into walls. Poor Daniel. He's gotten shot by his entire team in this episode.
And now it's Jack's turn to suffer. "I'm okay...ish." Hee.
Poor Alexei. Poor, brave Alexei. Helluva way to get your first offworld experience. He and Lt. Elliot should bond.
And next week -- Ba'al! Man, I am loving this season so far. Here are all my hot buttons, feel free to just bang on them for a while.
There damn well better be some good post-ep fanfic out of this. Yes, I'm looking at you. Though the episode was pretty much fanfic on the screen to begin with....
Whew. Do I have enough energy left for Atlantis?

Well, you know, I'm doing that drabble meme. Go on over to my LJ and make a request! I have the weekend off, and I have grand plans of actually accomplishing all the fic that's been requested so far!
Who knows, maybe I'll even catch you online to chat sometime soon.

We'll end up paying for the tons of Jack goodness that we're getting now.

And the bit where they're all gathered in the observation window -- everyone's there, but Jack's the one sitting in the chair, which clearly means he's been camped there a while.
