28 and still no lifeplan...whee!
Oct. 13th, 2004 04:29 pmThanks to all who sent me nice birthday wishes today!
It's been a nice day so far. For the second year in a row, my mother did not make me cry on my birthday; it could become the new tradition. She did leave the traditional voice mail message -- no words, just a musical card playing Happy Birthday. I told her she might have to pay a fee to the estate of Mildred and Patty Hill, but she wasn't cowed. The tribulations of Dan Rydell mean nothing to her.
It occurred to me too late that work owes me a comp day that I could have taken today, but it turned out all right anyway. In a masterful piece of subterfuge, one of my bosses called me into her office to distract me while the other one set up a little surprise party. Cake! Two cakes, in fact, and a vase of tiger lilies and a nice card. My birthday present to myself also came, just in time for the long afternoon - the Battlestar Galactica '03 soundtrack, which is such shivery-good music and makes me want to squee about the series finally debuting in the UK on Monday.
Tonight -- Varekai!
And today is also the birthday of my favorite work companion, my office desk plant, who turns 2 today. Two years under my care, and still alive. This is, in fact, a record.
