For those of you planning to get up early tomorrow to buy tickets to see Ewan McGregor in Guys and Dolls -- tickets are already on sale.  They weren't supposed to go on sale to the general public until tomorrow, but apparently ticketmaster.co.uk is excited as I am about this 'cause there they are!

Not having been to the UK before, how much might a trip like this cost? I'm prepared to ditch cons from my schedule in order to go to the UK and Ewan. :)

Well, the tickets to the play are 57 pounds (and I think we've got an exchange rate of about 1.8 dollars to the pound now, according to ndannais. Airfare is tricky -- it can be anywhere from $400-700 dollars that time of year, so it just depends on what kind of deals come along. I chose September deliberately because the airfares start to inch down right about then, after the summer peak fares (which are outrageous).

Then you just have to worry about lodging, food, and transportation, all of which can be had reasonably cheap if you're willing to be flexible and frugal. So all in all, it's more than a con, but not really all that much more than, say, a cross-country one. Which is why I'm ditching Escapade this year, because it would cost as much as London. *g*
