OMG YULETIDEEEEEEEEEEEE
Oct. 9th, 2007 11:14 amI signed up for Yuletide yesterday, and I'm pretty confident that I'm not going to have to go back and change any of my selections at this point. I've been getting more and more conservative over the past few years, and this year was probably the worst of it.
Requests: I went with three requests this year rather than my usual four. I considered several different options for my fourth request, but I couldn't come up with anything that would fill me with as much yuletide glee as my first three, so in the end I opted to leave it alone. None of them are things I've gotten before, and two are things I haven't requested before. One of them is for my primary fandom, which almost feels like cheating, but it's for a story I'll almost certainly never see written there, one that I've wanted to write myself but haven't been able to manage.
And only one of them is slash. The other is het or gen, and the last one is pure gen. *takes own temperature*
Prompts! I actually put in prompts for the first time in my personal yuletide history. I'd never done it before because I really suck at writing them, and most of the time I don't really have a specific idea in mind for my requests other than maybe a pairing. But I realized that I really, really hate getting a request without a prompt myself, so I owe it to my yuletide benefactor to at least give it a shot.
Offers: Last year I kind of screwed myself (and my recipient) over by including a couple fandoms that would be challenging, and wound up being a bit too challenging for my limited time and abilities. This year I stuck to things that I would be delighted to write and capable of doing well. I have a few other things I need to write before year's end, and a lot of stuff going on in RL.
Though I do miss the years where I offered every fandom I could even remotely conceive of attempting.

Date: 2007-10-09 09:16 pm (UTC)I may have gone overly obscure this time--all three of my requests are on the endangered species list, and two of them haven't been offered at all. And somebody offered both of those fandoms last year! Wah.
