I just fucking knew it
Nov. 4th, 2002 09:56 amThe Fed Ex that's been sitting in my rental office for almost a week was not my passport. It was a letter from the passport agency saying that my birth certificate and photo ID were not enough for them, and that I have to submit my high school yearbook as further proof.
Someone downtown is getting off on this, I swear.
So now I get to spend my day down in DC, sobbing onto some State Department flunkie's paperwork.
If I'd gotten the letter last week, I might have had a chance to still get my passport before I leave. But now? I dunno. London's not looking hopeful.
Fucking bastards. I hate the government, I really do.

Date: 2002-11-05 11:19 am (UTC)And what a nightmare!! I've done the 'sitting in a government office to get a passport issued within a day or two' lark, but no such rubbish as highschool yearbooks - almost sounds as if someone is pulling your chain really hard there...
Still hoping you'll be able to come.

Date: 2002-11-07 07:01 am (UTC)And I've heard about congresspeople being able to help, but since I just helped vote my congressperson out of office, she might not have been as much help as one would hope. :-)

Date: 2002-11-07 07:02 am (UTC)And yeah, the yearbook thing does sound like a joke, but they seemed quite serious about it. When I was there again yesterday, I saw another poor guy with his yearbook, so at least I'm not the only one.
