I can tell this is going to be one of those days of a hundred minor annoyances, starting with the heat headache that woke me up at 2 a.m. and still won't go away, and probably continuing right through Troy tonight.

It's a minor thing in the grand scheme to bitch about, but any of you who, like me, do the majority of your writing longhand may understand -- our purchasing guy just told me that my very favorite pen, the Bic Exact-Tip, with which I have written my last several stories, has been discontinued. I am now in the process of going through everyone's offices and hoarding whatever pens I can find. I'm also auditioning the Zeb-Roller 2000 as a possible replacement, but I'm just not sure it's going to do.

In other minor writing annoyances -- I had a fantastic idea for a story for an upcoming Stargate theme zine, and went to look up the deadline, to see if I would have time to write it after all my other upcoming deadlines. Turns out I don't have to worry about it, since the zine's been cancelled for lack of submissions. In the meantime, I've hit a serious crisis of confidence on the ficathon story. This involves me staring down at my notebook, eyes wide like one of those Quiznos rats, squeaking in wordless distress. It's really very sad. I have two weeks to get over it.

I have approximately 11 hours to get over my expectations of Troy. I have read every review, professional and fannish, that I could find, and at this point, it's not looking too good. On the upside, I do have a history of getting obsessed with movies that other people disdain. And really, half-naked Sean Bean? I'd love it just for that, even if it were Gladiator.

I'm glad someone else understands the vital importance of having just the right pen! I think a trip to Tokyo would be more than worth it, personally.

And good to hear a positive review of Troy. *jitter*
